10 points to consider – point 9

Posted by Nicole Holloway under Branding and Co-creation and Community and Innovation and Insight and Online Communities, 20 Jul 2012

This is the ninth entry in our series: 10 points to consider when setting up Insight, Innovation & Strategy Communities.

To get the most out of a community, ask members for their creativityand skills – not just their opinions.

It’s a mistake to use a community in the same way as a traditional research group – to test pre-existing hypotheses. While the community will often be used like that, it is at its best when given the chance to use its creativity and skills. Invite your community to generate the hypotheses, and not only test them. Don’t be afraid to give your community the chance of doing so! You will surprised by the results.
