10 points to consider – point 7

Posted by Nicole Holloway under Co-creation and Community and Innovation and Insight and Online Communities, 18 Jul 2012

This is the seventh entry in our series: 10 points to consider when setting up Insight, Innovation & Strategy Communities.

A community is not a silver bullet solution. While it performs well for most kinds of qualitative requirements and creative work, it is not a quantitative tool.

Don’t be tempted to mistake the scale of several hundred people as a replacement for a
nationally representative quantitative study. Yes, the community can provide a broad quantitative steer but it can never be a replacement for real volumetric testing.
